Ninja Star
thingiverse
This ninja star was designed in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012 and produced on a Makerbot Thing-O-Matic using 3mm plastic filament. The objective of creating this design was to manufacture an item that served both as a cool and interesting accessory, rather than just a decorative figurine. To achieve this, the design was initiated in Autodesk Inventor, with the chamfer tool used to make the star's blades extremely thin. This was done to test the Makerbot Thing-o-Matic's capability of printing very fine details. However, it was discovered that the printer struggled to print very thin layers and these were quite fragile. Therefore, for future iterations, the blades would be kept thicker for increased strength and 100% fill applied to make the ninja star heavier. The Ninja_Star_Finalmm.stl file can be downloaded and printed on a Makerbot machine at your preferred size. With caution, this functional ninja star can also be thrown.
