Gypsum wall panel rises in relief, showcasing two rows of the Assyrian bodyguard marching forward, heavy metal shields held high as they precede the royal chariot. Right before the king strides two of his court officials, their heads bare, simple fillets adorning their brows. This remarkable relief forms the lower section of an upper register. Dating back to 700 BC - 692 BC, this exquisite find was unearthed in Sennacherib's South West Palace, Room XII (L) panels 5-7 at Nineveh. The panel stands tall at a height of 110.5 centimetres and measures 198.1 centimetres from side to side.
