This innovative system repurposes an internal Ninebot ES battery as a versatile external range extension. The clever design of the modular sliding mechanism enables swift swapping of batteries in under 30 seconds, eliminating range anxiety. With this system, you can always carry additional batteries for limitless riding. Unlike official external batteries costing between $60-120, internal Ninebot ES batteries can be purchased online for around $20-30 each and offer the same capacity as official external batteries. This modular battery system boasts several advantages over traditional external batteries: 1) Internal replacement batteries are significantly cheaper than official external batteries, saving you about $30 per battery. 2) Swap batteries in under 30 seconds. 3) Carry additional batteries with you for unlimited riding range. For a detailed installation video, check out our Ninebot ES Modular Battery Tutorial on YouTube. Please note that the video contains outdated information where the external battery is wired in parallel with the internal one. While this method works, it's not the safest solution and we highly recommend using an External Battery Adapter available on Thingiverse. **Required Parts and Tools** Number of each needed in () -Ninebot ES internal battery (1) -M3 nut (12) -M3x16 bolt (8) May use M3x14 bolts depending on hot glue thickness -M3x10 bolt (4) -M4x8 bolt (2) -Hot glue gun -TS100 soldering iron **Printed Parts** Number of each needed in () -Sleeve (2) This part slides around your battery and secures with an M4x8 bolt. Use two per battery: one at the upper and lower most bolt holes respectively. -Mount (2) The mount holds the female slot and secures to your steering shaft with the clamp. The male slider easily slots and snaps into the mount with a simple bubble joint. There are three versions of the mount: loose, default, and tight. You may need a different version depending on your material and printer. -Clamp (2) The clamp bolts onto the other side of the steering shaft and holds the mount in place. -Safety Fingers (4) Safety fingers should be printed in a semi-rigid TPU and screw into your mount to ensure your battery doesn't eject if you hit a large pothole. -Grommet (1) The grommet fits around the wires coming out of your steering shaft tube and helps keep out dirt and moisture. Print in Ninjaflex for best results. **Basic Battery Mount** If you're looking for a simple solution and don't think you would use the modular feature of this battery mount, we've also included files for a non-modular battery mount (red part in photos). **Disclaimer: Installing an unofficial modular battery is very difficult and will void your scooter's warranty. We are not responsible for any damage to your scooter that may occur while installing this.** **Updates** 7/22//19 Added safety fingers, improved slider slot joint, modified text, adjusted bolt and nut holes. 8/4/19 Added grommet to eliminate the need for ugly hot glue. Updated battery sleeve and mount design to optimize strength. Note that this new version isn't compatible with previous mount or sleeve designs. 8/19/19 Updated basic battery mount to optimize strength and knurled nut fitting. Updated basic battery mount text. 9/5/19 Updated modular battery mount to optimize strength. Added L T D text under the mount to identify Loose, Tight, or Default fitting. 10/2/19 MAJOR UPDATE! Both basic and modular battery mounts now use regular M3 nuts instead of M3x6 knurled insert nuts. After extensive testing, we concluded that M3x6 knurled insert nuts were too prone to falling out when not perfectly installed. The updated design which utilizes regular M3 nuts allows you to tighten your clamp bolts much further to prevent slipping down the steering shaft tube. We also updated the text on the side of the mount and sleeve.
