The colossal statue of the Nile River was unearthed in Campo Marzio in 1513. At that time, it is believed to have been part of the Iseo Campense's ornate decoration, dedicated entirely to the Egyptian deities Isis and Serapis. The majestic river is depicted as a wise old man lying on his side, with a cornucopia overflowing with fruit in one arm and sheaves of wheat in the other hand. Egypt itself is represented by the presence of a sphinx. The scene comes alive with sixteen children, symbolizing the annual flood's rise of sixteen cubits of water. The bronze cast was created from a Roman marble statue housed in the Musei Vaticani in Rome. It was generously donated to the city of Copenhagen by the Albertina Foundation. A photogrammetric 3D reconstruction was achieved using approximately 3000 images. The raw model boasts an impressive one billion polygons.
