Nikon SB-800 Flash Softbox
thingiverse
I needed a compact softbox for my Nikon SB-800 flash that could fit easily into my bag. The main component slides over the flash head, featuring a hole for an M3 screw and nut to secure it in place if necessary (this has worked perfectly for me without needing additional clamping). For the interior, I used aluminum foil as a reflector, opting for one side with a more subdued finish. I created a printable template in PDF format for the Reflector and included it above. When printing, ensure that one edge is slightly longer to allow for overlap when folding. After cutting out the design from paper, I glued the aluminum foil to it before assembling everything inside the box. A tissue serves as an effective diffuser, but I may replace it with a piece of cloth or photo gel in the future. To enhance the fit and simplify grid swapping, I attached a small piece of foam rubber where the grid inserts. This provides a snug yet secure fit. UPDATE: I have since added four different grids to my setup - one with a 60° angle, another with 46°, a larger grid for softbox use without directional lighting, and a frame-only grid.
