Capturing detailed structures such as utility lines or intricate tree branches is the ultimate goal of modern photogrammetry, typically reserved for high-priced terrestrial scanners or aerial lidar systems. However, when weather permits and the right tools are utilized, skilled data acquisition and processing can produce LiDAR-quality results from photographs alone. This model was captured using a Nikon D850 46 megapixel full frame DSLR camera paired with a RedCatch Mono GNSS/IMU sensor attached to its hot shoe. Approximately 200 frames were taken while circling the tree on the ground about 30 feet away from its base. This particular model will serve as the basis for accurate measurements to design a sturdy and imaginative tree fort.
