Nikon 14-24 2.8G Filterholder
thingiverse
Nev Version 3 in Development I am excited to share the first try this week and make the files available for anyone to be part of the development. So here it is Filterholder for the Nikon 14-24 2.8 (subtitle) (and as far as I know, the first free one) I recently discovered my passion for photography again and wanted to capture more landscape and architecture photos. So after some time and thought (and a significant investment!), I got myself the famous Nikon 14-24 2.8 lens, which is an amazing piece of equipment but unfortunately doesn't take standard filters. Even the "not so normal" Cokin filters won't fit; you need at least 150x150mm filters. The cheapest single Filterplate costs about €115, but that's without any holder to mount it to the lens. Those again cost from €150-€500. There is even a 3D-printed one that's nice, but honestly... 3D printing (and therefore 3D printed parts) for me has a kind of "community" feel to it, so if you design something great for 3D printing, I think you should share it with others (still okay and understandable to also sell finished parts, but you should share the files!). So, in short, I made my own one! It needed some thought to get the right dimensions so that nothing "blocks" the picture at 14mm (about 114° angle!). #### Key features: • No vignetting • Light: at least lighter than the ones made out of metal • Easy to print: only minimal supported areas needed • Almost no manual rework: I sanded the inner diameter to get a better surface for the foam rubber (the inserts in the pictures are a prototype, so those are heavily sanded) • Removable holder inserts: you can remove the bottom ones to use for instance a gradual ND filter • Interchangeable holder inserts: there will be an additional version for 2 stacked filters ================================================================== #### What you will need: • 3D-Printer • 1 Main Part • 3 Inserts L • 3 Inserts R • 1.8-2mm thick self-sticking foam rubber • 6pcs 1.5x14mm cylinder pin • Some sandpaper ================================================================== Hope everyone likes the part and has a great time shooting photos with it. Just two more things I have to say: I am not responsible for anyone scratching the outside of their lens or cracking a filter (because it drops out or something). The holder works great for me, but your results may vary (printer settings, material,...). Please don't sell it. Since the next option is over €100, someone might be tempted to sell some for money. Material cost plus 4 or 5 beers is fine, but I would like that no one is "making money" out of it.
