Nikolay Przhevalsky, a Russian explorer, made significant contributions to geographic knowledge of east-central Asia through his extensive explorations, route surveys, and collections of plants and animals. A monument honoring Nikolay Mikhaylovich Przhevalsky was erected in the Alexander Gardens. The sculpture, created by Ivan Shreder in 1892, features a larger-than-life bust of Przhevalsky from mid-chest up. He wears a double-breasted uniform with a medal on the right side and has his hair styled straight back. A life-size bronze sculpture of a Bactrian camel is located at the base of the pedestal. This type of camel was Przhevalsky's primary mode of transportation during his expeditions. There have been claims that Nikolay Przhevalsky is the father of Josef Stalin due to their physical resemblance. However, there is no record of Przhevalsky visiting Georgia, Stalin's birthplace. A digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures and artworks from around the world can be accessed for free through "Scan The World." This initiative was launched by MyMiniFactory as a non-profit effort to create a global digital collection.
