Nikko Sand Eagle / Sand Spider 14t spur gear

Made a replacement gear for the Nikko Sand Eagle that had several chipped teeth causing it to grind against the gear occasionally. Print Settings Printer: Creality CR-10 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 100% Notes: No special settings required, ensure proper support under the gear teeth or let the printer bridge it, which may work fine but might require manual removal of some teeth. Compared the gear noise afterwards with another car I have (Sand Spider) and they were identical, meaning the printed part doesn't cause additional friction than the original part. Made it go back and forth violently to ensure the PLA gear wouldn't break. Can't say how it'll hold up in the long run as I have no idea how fast it'll wear down, but if you make sure the surface of the teeth is smooth and add some grease upon reassembling, it shouldn't wear out anytime soon. Post-Printing Final touches: Ensure the gear fits the axle so it doesn't have play yet mustn't grip the axle either. Just pushed the gear over the axle and spun it back and forth a couple of times until it didn't provide too much friction and then put the gearbox back together. May need to use a Dremel to grind flat sections in order to make them fit perfectly, the measurement should be correct but may differ due to shrinkage depending on the printer used and settings while printing. How I Designed This Design process: Did this part in Autodesk Fusion 360 as it has a very good and basic spur gear designer add-in, easier to use than the gear designer in Inventor which is far more complicated. Measured the original gear with a vernier caliper and put together a 3D model of it.
