Nickel Plate Road - Telegraph Office
thingiverse
This is a model of a telegraph office based on standard designs used by the Nickel Plate Road. Dozens of these small buildings were scattered across the NKP system, and similar designs appeared on other rail lines throughout America. The building's design is straightforward; a telegrapher's desk occupied one corner of a room, while a waiting area filled another space. The tiny structure was heated with an oil-burning stove located in a small offshoot closet. In this model, the closet has been repurposed to house LED lights. A hole on the underside measures 8mm in diameter, and the hole leading to the office is 3.5mm in diameter, making them perfect for SMD LEDs. The interior is fully equipped with doors, a counter, a bench, a stove, and a telegrapher's desk all carefully placed within it. The exterior features wood siding that completes the model. This model is designed to be printed without supports, but using a raft might be beneficial. To build this model, you will need to print: - 1 Main Body (print foundation down, roof up) - 1 Large Roof (print roofline and exhaust up) - 1 Small Roof (print roof/shingles down, 10° offset) - 4 Roof Extensions (print angled surface at top) Paint and assemble the small roof, which has guiding rails to aid in its final placement. The large roof sits evenly across the top of the main body, while the four roof extensions are glued to the ends of the large roof to create the overhang. Total finished dimensions in HO scale measure 93mm x 50mm x 48mm.
