Nick Wilde & Cryptos
thingiverse
Based on the model from fASE-2 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2595388), I'd like to express my gratitude to the original creator of this amazing character. However, please note that I don't take any credit for the original design if you feel it's not suitable for your needs, kindly let me know and I'll remove it immediately. Here's a brief summary of what I've done: * I edited the arms, eyes, and coin using Mesh Mixer * I added more details to the feet, tail, coin, eyes, and cleaned up the model in Virtual Reality (ShapeLab) * I printed the model * I applied airbrush painting for the bigger parts * I used brush painting for the finer details * I finished with a glossy varnish and then matte varnish * And finally, I took some awesome shots! To give you more insight into my creative process: I'm really passionate about cryptocurrencies, and this character is just too cool to resist combining those two worlds. This was my first time using Virtual Reality to finish modeling something, and I must say that the tools (like ShapeLab) have made tremendous progress since last year. The experience was incredibly stable, precise, fun, and easy to use compared to Mesh Mixer for modeling everything. With one hand, I could manipulate the model while making adjustments with the other, just like working with clay. The software handled large models with ease, which made it a joy to work with. Before that, I used Mesh Mixer to rework the shoulders (as they weren't exactly what I had in mind), put hands out of the pocket, and added a coin to Nick's hand. However, printing was a bit tricky due to my desire for minimal support. After an hour of failed attempts, I decided to add some supports, which ultimately led to a successful print. Next, I used airbrush painting for the bigger parts, but I have a tendency to rush through the process and not wait for the colors to dry completely before moving on to the next one (I'm really impatient when it comes to this part!). As a result, I had to redo some of the paintwork because wet paint doesn't like sticking to blue tape. Finally, I finished off with my Vallejo set to add the finer details. And that's it! You'll find two versions: one with VertCoin and another with a neutral coin, so you can print your favorite cryptocurrency instead (and there are many awesome ones out there!). I hope you enjoy this creation, and I wish you a fantastic day!
