A user initiated a 3D model reconstruction project by capturing an image of an object using an Xbox 360 Kinect sensor in conjunction with the free open-source software application ReconstructMe. The acquired point cloud data was then optimized through the removal of any extraneous points and the application of a series of filters to achieve a smooth surface.
