Human: Struck treacherous waters on Knife Island, Minnesota's Lake Superior shoreline, during a ferocious northeast storm on June 4, 1904, while en route to Duluth and ultimately succumbed to the fury of the gale. Eleven crew members and two passengers were dramatically rescued by the tug EDNA G from Two Harbors; not a single life was lost in this remarkable feat. The wrecked vessel's machinery was salvaged with great effort. The wreckage lies exposed on the lake side of Knife Island, roughly centered on the island itself. The remains are scattered across five major sections with smaller debris littering the seafloor surrounding the island. This model captures a 2016 photographically assembled mosaic of the site converted into a three-dimensional representation for enhanced viewing.
