Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) entails cultivating plants in long, slender channels. A thin layer of water persistently flows down each channel, nourishing plant roots with water, nutrients, and oxygen. Similar to the raft system, the water circulates from the fish tank, through filters, then via the NFT channels where plants are grown, finally returning to the fish tank. However, in NFT, a separate bio filter is needed as there's minimal water or surface for beneficial bacteria to dwell. Moreover, the plumbing utilized in hydroponic NFT systems typically isn't adequate for aquaponics due to the organic nature and "living" water causing clogging of small pipes and tubes.
