NF Crazy Volcano Silicone Sock Mold

This is a 4-part mold for silicone socks for the NF Crazy Volcano heat block from Mellow, which appears to be a modified clone of the “VolcoMosq” aftermarket heat block from Nitram Engineering. Unlike the stock VolcoMosq, the NF Crazy Volcano adds mounting holes for the popular Dragon heatsink, which is why I picked one up.Mellow sells their own socks for this heat block but I developed this mold as I wanted better coverage of the block, especially around the nozzle. Mellow's block leaves a large gap around the nozzle which in my experience is the perfect place for filament globs to get stuck and become very difficult to remove, so I designed this sock mold to cover more of the nozzle. For more info on casting your own silicone socks, CNC Kitchen's video is excellent: Printing tipsPLA, PETG, and just about anything else works fine. I have printed the molds out of both PLA and PETG, though the benefit to PETG is that it is a bit more heat tolerant if you want to accelerate the curing process in a heated chamber. There are two insert options. The first one is just a normal smooth-sided insert while the second has some raised sections that are meant to create air gaps in the final model for further insulation, similar to Nitram's design. I have only printed and test-fitted the air-gapped model but the smooth-sided model should work as well. The mold is designed for M3 screws, and needs 4 x 30 mm screws for the left/right sides and 4 x 35 mm screws for the top/bottom (or longer).
