Nexus in Putney, London
myminifactory
This striking sculpture forms part of a trail installation featuring nine large sculptures situated along the River Thames at Putney in South London. The picturesque 1.5 mile riverside walk includes parkland and piazzas, lined with cafes and restaurants that cater to diverse tastes. Launched in September 2008, this trail was spearheaded by the Putney Town Centre Partnership in collaboration with Wandsworth Council. Here, you can admire a substantial body of work created by renowned sculptor Alan Thornhill, whose extensive experience working with clay has evolved from pottery into sophisticated sculpture. His innovative methods enable him to dispense with the traditional armature, allowing for improvisation and spontaneity, while his portraits challenge conventional notions of normalcy through meticulous observation. This remarkable object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access. Scan the World is an open-source community effort, and we invite you to contribute interesting items from your surroundings.
