The upgraded stand is based on a design from Thingiverse, incorporating a low-cost Qi-compliant charging board bought from dx.com. The Nexus 7 (2013) supports wireless charging via this board. Assembling the stand involves laser cutting parts from 1/8" baltic birch plywood, gluing in the charge coil and circuit board with hot glue, and assembling the frame with wood glue. Despite a damaged coil received, overall performance was not affected, and DX provided a refund for the boards. Wireless charging eliminates daily plugging-in, keeping the battery full at work and home.
