Nexus 6P Phone holder for Mazda 3
thingiverse
I designed a car dock / phone holder for Nexus 6P with an official adopted case, specifically for my 2014 Mazda 3 Sport (hatchback). It reuses the same 'clip' as thing:1133955, which is attached to the dash using outdoor mounting tape. This phone holder then slides right onto it. The hole at the bottom of this design snugly fits the long USB-C cable that comes out of the box after warming up the connector with a hair dryer. Printer Settings: Printer: Flux3dp Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: This design should be easily printable with a typical FDM printer upside down without support, as the top side has more surface area. I printed it at 100% infill while troubleshooting minor print quality issues during my final print. The resulting print turned out to be really good and over-kill on structure integrity, so I believe this design is likely to be printed with lower infill on a good printer without compromising overall rigidity. How I Designed This: The overall design was inspired by thing:1133955, but with many iterations to find the perfect fit for Nexus 6P. The holder is rotated towards the driver for a better viewing angle (instead of flat against the dash). The length is adjusted so that the noise-cancelling mic on the back side isn't blocked by the top of the holder. A semi-circular hole on the right side enables access to the hazard light button with the phone on, although I actually snapped off the support that spans the arc later. I used SketchUp Make 2017 to design this.
