Nexus 6 Flexible Bumper

Nexus 6 Flexible Bumper

thingiverse

UPDATE: Klop2031 sent me a revised version of the case with cleaned-up geometry. If original issues persist, try the fixed edition instead. A Nexus 6 bumper was not available on Thingiverse, so one was designed and created! This bumper is made of Ninjaflex, which provides flexibility while printing it at an extremely slow pace. The bumper is specifically designed to snugly fit around the Nexus 6 while keeping the buttons, headphone jack, and power port accessible. Plenty of rubber material has been added at the corners for maximum protection in case the phone experiences a fall. While the bumper is far from perfect, I would greatly appreciate your input on areas that need improvement! At some point, I would like to attempt making this bumper using SCAD; however, for now, Blender is still my top preference. **Important Instruction** A flexible filament, similar to Ninjaflex, must be used when printing this design. Hard plastics such as ABS and PLA will result in a rigid bumper that can damage the phone. The design was created using standard Ninjaflex on a Replicator clone printer. As my extruder has not been upgraded, it was necessary to print very slowly at speeds of around 15/20mm/s with .2mm layer heights. For this particular design, the ideal temperature was achieved by setting the machine to 240/45 degrees Celsius. This might be hotter than what is needed, but using flexible filaments like Ninjaflex can sometimes bind up, making it necessary to maintain a little extra room. I didn't need any supports for this design because the bridge spanning the volume buttons somehow came out fine on its own - which left me just as surprised!
