Nexus 5x phone case (Voronoi edition)
thingiverse
A standard case design for the Nexus 5x, along with a variant featuring a Voronoi pattern on its backside, is generated. The ideal printing material for this model is flexible filament. Support options are available for the side holes, as Slic3r struggles to produce suitable support structures for such features. My testing has shown that breaking down these areas into smaller test sections yields better results than printing them in their entirety. I've found it necessary to smooth out the rounded backside of my prints using a low-temperature soldering iron due to its rough texture. The shell is designed with a moderate thickness (2mm), but I have successfully printed cases as thin as 1mm. When modifying the case's thickness, it's crucial to keep an eye on the side holes, as they may not always align correctly. A slight slant in the upper edge provides a secure grip around the phone, achieved at a 45-degree angle for optimal printing without support. I opted against including SIM card and SIM card pin holes, given their relatively infrequent use compared to other features.
