Nexus 5 Phone Case for FTC
thingiverse
This is a custom phone case designed for the Nexus 5 smartphone, based on a unique design created by someone else for the ZTE Speeds model - you can find that original design at thingiverse.com/thing:1141100. Our custom case was made from scratch using precise measurements of the Nexus 5 model. The case features strategically placed holes on its sides, each measuring 16mm apart, providing easy access to internal components if needed. One great feature of this phone case is how well it worked for us as a driver station in robotics competitions when we used the Nexus phones as our main control units. The design includes four large holes that are perfectly sized for an actobotics standoff with a 1/4-inch outer diameter. To make installing and removing the cover easy, we created a custom drill guide to match the holes on the driver station panel. This guide ensured accurate placement of short standoffs inside the case's holes, allowing us to securely fasten our driver station phone without relying on sticky velcro strips. We use standard 6-32 screws to attach and detach the cover from the phone, providing a secure fit while keeping everything neatly organized.
