The New York Islanders are a professional ice hockey team based in Uniondale, New York. They are members of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). Founded in 1972, the Islanders have a storied history, winning four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1980-1983, and reaching the finals three more times since then. The team plays its home games at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
