New way to fix a glass bed to a Creator Pro?
thingiverse
I've tried numerous methods to attach a glass bed to my Creator Pro, but none have proven particularly effective. One method that has shown the most success is using 11mm Swiss clips. However, these clips tend to ping off in the absence of a mounting hole as they would on a frame. To overcome this issue, I devised a solution by attaching two clips to the bed with springs to the center HBP mounting screw. This approach requires only two clips and works extremely well. I used 8mm diameter springs for this purpose. The loop at the clip end is stretched over the flange on the clip, above the platform and below the bed, then simply looped over the pillar. It doesn't even need a nut to hold it in place as it's under tension. When the clips are unclipped, they retract themselves neatly atop the platform. The right-angled "pin" on the end of the clip needs to be bent straight before use, which then doubles as an alignment guide for the inside of the spring - holding it straight. Simply stretch the spring over it as you fit it. I've included photos to demonstrate how this solution is working. I hope that this may prove helpful for others facing similar challenges. UPDATE (08/10/18): This solution has been working exceptionally well, with the only drawback being that it's fiddly to remove the clips. To address this issue, I created a simple pull tab that slides over the clip. The tab also includes a flange to prevent it from dropping down and potentially fouling the movement of the bed. You can find photos detailing how to fit this modification.
