The project is a 3D printed LED cube that displays digital art and animations. The idea was born from the need to create an interactive and immersive experience for viewers, using the unique properties of light to evoke emotions and tell stories. To achieve this goal, I designed a compact and modular system consisting of a central processing unit (CPU) connected to a series of LED lights arranged in a cube shape. Each side of the cube contains 16 LEDs that can be programmed to display different colors and patterns. The CPU is responsible for receiving input from users through a smartphone app or a computer, which then sends commands to the LEDs to create the desired visuals. The system also features an internal clock that allows it to automatically change displays at set intervals. One of the key challenges in designing this project was ensuring that all components worked together seamlessly and efficiently. To accomplish this, I utilized various programming languages such as C++ and Python to write custom firmware for the CPU and LED drivers. Furthermore, to add an extra layer of interactivity, the system includes a touch sensor on each side of the cube, allowing users to physically interact with the display by touching specific areas or patterns. This feature adds a new level of engagement and immersion to the viewing experience. Overall, this project showcases the potential of combining technology and art to create immersive experiences that captivate audiences. By pushing the boundaries of what is possible with 3D printing and programming, I was able to bring a unique idea to life and share it with others.
