New Prusa i3 MK1 & MK2 Spool Holder V2 - Quick Change
thingiverse
02/01/2017 - Updated design, two roller widths available and four 608 skateboard bearings are needed. Side supports have built-in filament guides. A notch is built into the rollers to prevent bearings from being pushed in too far. This works like a charm, shared on the Prusa i3 Facebook group and downloaded countless times. Let me know what you think if you print and use it! Print nuts and bolts with high infill (at least 50% to 75%), using these bolts for a year without issues. 13% to 20% for rollers and supports is fine. Print using ABS. 11/28/2016 - Updated design, clears extruder. This spool holder lets you quickly remove and place new spools on the printer for printing. I'm not a fan of rods or tubes; I wanted something low profile. They latch onto the frame like the original Prusa i3 Spool Holder with almost the same clearances. I used 608 bearing adapters myself, pressing in bearings purchased from a local skate shop. Nuts and bolts were printed with slightly higher infill (30% to 40%), as they won't be tightened hard. Numerous versions have been printed without breaking. This was all printed with ABS. You can also print and use the all-plastic bearings, which work but are much smoother with bearings. Don't tighten nuts too much or plastic bearings won't spin freely. Using a flexible material for 608 bearing adapters would be nicer, but I'm fine with how mine is now. Main supports were printed at 20%, and even lower should work, just not too low. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Orig.
