New Padlock with Key, All Wood

This is a fresh take on a padlock. There's a key now, so don't misplace it. This one was designed to be a challenge to make an impossible-to-pick lock. As usual, the picker has never seen the key before. The key would reveal too many secrets about how to pick the lock. I'll update this when I find out what broke first: the lock or his determination. Update: His determination! Print Settings Notes: 1/8" wood was used for this project. If you're using thicker wood (which is not recommended), then the keyholes need to be made wider to accommodate the thickness. Post-Printing Assembly: As with all laser cut items, wipe down all edges, sand for smoothness, and be careful with the glue on this one. First, glue the two keys together, and the three shackles together. Sand both sides of each to give you more room inside the lock. Also, sand wedge angles into the tip end on the shackle to let it slide into the lock hole easier. From back to front, the sequence is the single hole, the swing arm, the oval-ish hole, the other swing arm, and the keyhole. If you want, you can lightly sand the sides of the swing arm itself to give you more room inside the lock. Glue each layer in place, and make sure not to glue the swing arm itself. Also, insert the shackle before the final layer. To use, insert the key (tines up toward the shackle), turn it clockwise 180 degrees, sort of force it and pull the shackle up. To lock, snap the shackle back down. How I Designed This Notes: I guess I've been forgetting some important design elements/conventions that I've been using. I use Inkscape to design, and RetinaEngrave from Full Spectrum Laser to cut. RE allows sequence cutting by using colors as layers. There are only 7 possible colors that it recognizes. As a standard for me, I use Red and Green as text with 100% speed, and 10-40% power. I use Light Blue (max Green&Blue), Purple, and Blue for inner to outer cuts. If you see any Yellow lines, those usually can be set to "No Cut". I use Yellow for text paths. If you see any Black lines, let me know as soon as possible because something has gone wrong. Black means I haven't designated the cut sequence/style for that section.
