The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey, that competes in the National Hockey League (NHL). Founded on June 7, 1974, they are one of the "Original Six" NHL teams and have a rich history dating back to their establishment as the Kansas City Scouts. After relocating to Denver, Colorado in 1976, the team became known as the Colorado Rockies before moving again to East Rutherford, New Jersey in 1982 and adopting the Devils name. Their home games are played at Prudential Center in Newark, which they share with Seton Hall University's men's basketball team. The Devils have won three Stanley Cup championships: 1995, 2000, and 2003.
