New & Improved KeyCaps
thingiverse
Keycaps crafted for seamless integration into the front panel, engineered specifically to complement the Jason Latest DSKY TopIndividualBezels models recently unveiled. Fortunately, it appears no modifications were made to the keyholes between the original and Jason model, ensuring compatibility with the original faceplate. The keycaps are designed to sit flush against the front face just like the actual unit. I've utilized the Gorton Normal Font for the characters, providing both a raised text version and an engraved text version. However, I've encountered some issues printing these caps using a 0.4mm nozzle - the small islands result in poor print quality for both raised and engraved styles. To address this, I'll need to acquire a smaller nozzle and attempt re-printing. Printed in white with a coat of black paint over the face followed by a light sand, the text on the raised caps should be nicely exposed. For the engraved type buttons, it may be possible to achieve a clean look without filling the text using a light press on some wet paint; however, I haven't yet reached this stage. UPDATE: After completing a full set of raised text keycaps, I've attached a picture for your reference. Now, I just need to touch up the paint so it doesn't get where I don't want it. UPDATE: I've painted the FDM raised text buttons and then used a #17 XACTO blade to scrape off the excess paint. Initially, I attempted filling some gaps with a coat of clear first but that didn't work; you can still see some spots where there were still valleys in the character. UPDATE: Here's a picture of the engraved caps printed in resin using Harp Controlls LCC's ORDER THIS PRINTED option - they look great! Now, I'll need to paint these as well. Unfortunately, they came out a tiny bit thicker than designed but that can be easily rectified.
