The New Horizons spacecraft embarked on a remarkable journey in 2006, culminating in a thrilling flyby of Pluto and its satellites in July 2015. Following a decade-long odyssey spanning over 3 billion miles, the spacecraft has already braved the turbulence and circumnavigated Jupiter's moons. Now, it is bound for another historic encounter with a small Kuiper Belt object called 2014 MU69, where it will scrutinize an ancient prototype of Pluto-like planets on New Year's Day in 2019.
