New bowden extruder
grabcad
This modified Bowden extruder for my DIY hobby 3D printer features toothed belts instead of trapezoidal threads on the Z axis. Improvements include using a Bowden extruder (weight savings of approximately 600 g) and increasing motor voltage from 12V to 24V. Despite these changes, the Z axis still needed more power, so the trapezoidal thread was revamped. The printer's print area increases by about 1.5 cm due to closer hotends, and cooling is improved through direct blowing. The main structure comprises aluminum profiles (30x30x500mm) connected with precision-milled fiberglass pieces for excellent rigidity. The printer can also be easily disassembled into two parts for transportation. Printing components include Print_01.stl, printed using FDM with ABS or Polyjet with RGD525 material. Key components used are a 40x40 mm fan, E3D extruder, and linear bearings. The author is currently studying at the Technical University in Liberec.
