New base with electronics housing + post for 200mm PC Fan Desktop Fan by Hijinx. The base allows to add a DC jack and a power switch to make this cool fan even better to use. Notes:You will need some tools and parts to connect the electronics in the base:Soldering iron and solderThin cable wires. I used a bit thicker ones compared to the super tiny ones of the fan itself.Some shrink tubing to protect 2 of the wire ends that are connected together directly or some electrical tapeVolt meterSide cutterWire stripperThe print part needs to be orientated -90 in X direction as shown in the attached last picture.The base prints in 1 part to make it look better in the endNo supports needed. The MK3S manages this really well to cover the tunnel in the middle of the base that is used to hide the cables after the switch is finally clicked into place. They both should be long enough (~20cm) to be able to stick out of the switch hole. So around 20cm each in length should lead to ~5cm out of the switch hole. You may need to check which 2 contacts are the right ones for your DC jack. In case of the named one above it was the middle one for +12V and the one closest to the thread for -12V/GND for the from me used 12V power supply. You may need to measure this with a volt meter before for your own parts. It might get hard to pull the switch out once it is clicked into the base. So better check and test before to make your life more easy…Put some super glue on the thread of the DC jack and put it trough the round hole of the base back. The 2 cables ends should stick out of the switch hole for the next actions. Let the glue dry and prepare the rest of the electronics…Solder the +12V cable of the DC jack to one of the 2 switch pins. It does not matter which one you select…Now put the 200mm fan cables trough the post with the hole in the post to the fan and through the upper hole of the base which will hold the post later. The fans cable should be more than long enough to pull it out of the switch hole as well…Solder the +12V cable of the fan - in my case it was the middle one - of the 3 wires to the other contact of the switch…As last action to the electronics solder the remaining -12V/GND wire of the DC jack to the correct -12V/GND one of the fan. You will need to test which of the not yet used ones is the one on the fan, because there was mark on its cable, at least on my fan cable. Try out which one will spin the fan when you put the switch ON and connect the 12V power supply to the DC jack and solder this fan wire to the -12V/GND one of the DC jack directly. Use the shrinking tube or electrical tape to cover the contact…After these actions test if the fan spins with to ON set switch with the attached power supply and turns off when you set the switch to OFF…When this all works the switch can be clicked into its position in the base and the post can be mounted. That should finish the project. EDIT: The post shown in the pictures is now uploaded as well.
