New and Improved Handle For Mjolnir
thingiverse
Human: Print pieces 2.0A and 2.0B, as well as HandleHead2.0B, all with 100% infill. I have recreated the Mjolnir handle for a cleaner appearance when using heat shrink tubing for the handle wrap. All pieces fit around a section of PVC tubing, 3/4 inches in size. The outer diameter of the PVC is slightly over 1 inch, to be exact 1.052. I have used dual-walled, adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing for the "leather" wrap of the handle. When using this technique, you must print the handle piece and slide it over the PVC tubing first! Heat and lack of support will just cause the heat shrink to crumble your piece if not. For Pommel pieces, after wrapping, some material needs to be removed to allow everything to fit snug together. It's super easy - just reference the pictures. The HeadBodyB2.0 piece has been modified to accept 3/4-inch PVC tubing. 1 1/2 inch to 2 inch heat shrink tubing is required. The final length of PVC tubing needed is 17 inches. 11-5-17 Just added HeadBodyB2.0B and HeadCapScroll2.0. These two pieces help lock everything together a little better. Simply run the PVC all the way through the HeadBody piece, and the Cap piece will seat inside the PVC tube, locking everything in. I haven't printed these yet, but they should work - just holla at me if there are problems. 11-7-17 HeadCapScroll2.0 was removed because I got poor results with the print orientation. I'll rework it and try again. I'll repost the updated file when fixed. 11-12-17 HeadCapScroll2.0 was added back - just changed print orientation. You have to use support to print, obviously. When I printed it the original way, with the lettering on the print surface, it wasn't consistently adhering all of the letters, resulting in a big mess. You may have different results. In the end, I wonder if it's even worth it or even needed? Also, when assembling the handle, you'll notice small gaps here and there. If you don't want white PVC showing through, order BLACK PVC. If you just paint the white PVC black, you'll have a hard time sliding the handle pieces over the PVC because the tolerances are so tight. The gaps are small and hardly noticeable. 11-25-17 Update I just realized that HandleHead2.0B piece was in the wrong orientation. It has been fixed so that the handle lines up correctly now.
