Nevytsky Castle Ukraine
sketchfab
Human: is a semi-ruined castle nestled deep within Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine.\nIt sits 12 kilometres north of Uzhhorod, near villages Nevytske, where the surrounding woods conceal its presence on a hill with a relative elevation of 122 metres.\nThe castle's history dates back to 1274 when it belonged to King Laszlo IV of Hungary, serving as a formidable dungeon or keep.\nOver time, the structure was completely rebuilt in the early 15th century, and it rose majestically over the Uzh River, becoming the powerful citadel of the Drugeth family, who oversaw its continuous modernization throughout the centuries.\nThe keep's current form emerged in the early 16th century, but it changed hands numerous times during Hungary's tumultuous internecine strife in the early 17th century.\nIn 1644, Prince George II Rákóczi of Transylvania ravaged the castle, leaving it largely intact as it stands today.\nThe site's decline in defensive importance and its remote, inaccessible location have preserved the castle from complete demolition.
