Never-tangle Filament Clip
thingiverse
Take care to prevent your filament's loose outer wraps from tangling with its filament end as it comes off the spool. Add a clip onto your new spool immediately, then leave it in place until the spool is done printing. This clip travels alongside the spool while you print and keeps the free end of the filament tucked safely into a retaining slot for storage, stopping it from flopping loose and getting tangled up at all times. As your filament prints quickly, print one for every spool you own to avoid problems with tangles. Instructions Print each part using 0.2mm layer thickness and 0.4mm line width. Once you've got them printed, they should snap together seamlessly; you can also adjust the width to suit your specific spool size - although a default setting that fits ~8" dia. spools is usually sufficient for most needs, simply scaling up the X axis should take care of any larger diameter spools. Make sure filament is constantly flowing through the slot at all times during use. To store the spool, just push the free end into the tapered storage slot on its side. Please note that this clip design works specifically with 1.75mm dia. filament only.
