Neuron v1.0

This is the Brainchild, a DIY soldering kit I created for the 2012 Kansas City Maker Faire. On the surface it's just another easy-to-assemble "my first soldering project" flasher, but link several of them together and you can build an interactive light show! It functions as your typical alternating LED flasher with a jumper in place, but remove the jumper and they synchronize pulses of light detected on one LED to the other. Connect a large set of them together and they'll trigger each other in sequence. They're also bi-directional so you can send a pulse one direction through a chain and send another back the opposite way. A single Brainchild firing can activate more than one Brainchild, forming branching light displays as well! You can even use one in flash mode to act as a convenient light pulse source.
