The human brain is comprised of billions of neurons, tiny but mighty cells that transmit information through electrical and chemical signals. Neurons are specialized to communicate with one another, and they work together in complex networks to control our thoughts, emotions, and actions. Each neuron has three main parts: dendrites, the cell body, and axons. Dendrites receive signals from other neurons, while the cell body contains the neuron's nucleus and most of its organelles. Axons are long, slender extensions that transmit signals away from the cell body to other neurons or to muscles or glands.
