This 16th-century wreck was discovered by archaeologist Fabien Langenegger of the OPAN (Office for Heritage and Archaeology in the Canton of Neuchâtel) late in 2017. It was thoroughly excavated, modeled, and reburied between October 1st and 14th, 2019, thanks to support from teams at the Fondation Octopus, MZ Diving, and CREASSM. The excavation revealed a fifteen-meter ship entirely made of spruce, nailed together with a stone beacon built to mark the entrance to a canal. The ship and its stone base were carefully transported to the desired location and deliberately sunk. Constructed in the latter half of the 16th century, this vessel was converted into a beacon during the first half of the 17th century.
