Nesting fidget toy (Montessori style)
prusaprinters
This is a Montessori-style nesting fidget toy for all ages. It comes in four parts (the smallest one doesn't open). The threading on both ends of the body is the same, so you can screw the cap onto either end, and you can optionally screw either end into the next largest size to secure it (it will close even if the inner piece isn't attached at the bottom). Parents, you will appreciate this noise reduction feature when stowing it in a backpack or in the car.The smallest piece (15 mm) is a choking hazard for children under 3: All other pieces of this toy pass the small parts cylinder test. As always, adult supervision is required. (See my small parts cylinder test object for more information about this test with references.)Files:There are 4 sizes: 15, 30, 45, 60. These are the nominal outer diameters (excluding the knurling). The 15 size only has one file (15S)The 30, 45, and 60 sizes have B (bottom) and T (top) files.Printing tips:Print the flat side down for each model (bottom pieces “B” it's the threaded flat bottom, top pieces “T” it's the flat top).I've included .gcode for all of the files, but that's mostly so Printables can calculate the printing time and material used. You'll have a lot more fun slicing your own files.Acknowledgements: I designed this in OpenSCAD with the help of the knurledFinishLib_v2 and tsmthread4 libraries.
