Nester - The nesting jar/container/sorter
thingiverse
Meet Nester, a nesting container designed to store various items such as medicine, change, herbals, and supplements in individual sections. This is the first size of the second version, with improvements already underway for an upcoming release. Nester prints well without supports, but requires slower printing speeds and good cooling, particularly on printers like mine that are prone to defects. The thread tolerance has been set tightly, allowing it to potentially work on other printers as well. The inside of the lid is shaped to fit perfectly around the top edge of each inner container, preventing spills between compartments in case the jar falls. Two lids have been provided: Cap1 is the original design but does not print cleanly on the exterior for me. Cap2 has a cleaner exterior and features an interior seal that meets the container a little farther down its sides. This design may eventually be combined with future improvements or new designs. Users may need to remove excess plastic or address "elephant-foot" issues, as the inner containers are tightly toleranced. While they displace air when inserted, they do not get stuck and can be worked into place by rotating them slightly. A notch has been added to the jar's bottom for convenient reassembly of the inner containers in any order. Different sizes and layouts are being explored, so further updates are on the way. Feel free to ask questions or share your experience with Nester!
