Nest Thermostat To Honeywell Mounting Plate Adapter

So I scored a sweet deal on a Nest E from my power company for $14. You might be eligible for similar discounts in the US - just check with your energy supplier to see if you qualify. My house was built back in 1934, and it's got an old Honeywell roundy thermostat that was painted into the wall with a large trim plate. To upgrade my system without damaging the original setup, I created an adapter that matches the color of my walls as closely as possible using 3D printing filament. The adapter attaches to the old trim plate with two M3x10mm self-threading screws, and then the Nest E thermostat mounts to the adapter using the same type of screws. I had to do some careful planning, but I was able to print the adapter without having to drill any new holes in my wall. To get a great finish, I recommend printing with supports and giving it a light sanding - you could even paint it if you're feeling extra fancy! This adapter fits perfectly with old school round Honeywells like this one: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeywell#/media/File:Honeywell_thermostat.jpg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeywell#/media/File:Honeywell_thermostat.jpg) Thanks for the feedback!
