Nespresso Krups lowered drip tray
thingiverse
I discovered I couldn't fit my favorite large mug under my Nespresso Krups coffee machine. Of course, I could use a smaller coffee mug, but that wasn't really the solution I was looking for. Instead, I designed this slightly lower drip tray, which still catches any spilled coffee, but allows you to use your favorite mug at the same time. Initially, the drip tray wasn't a nice and easy-to-print file at all while it was one big part, so I split the drip tray up into two pieces that can be connected using 2 pins and preferably some glue. That turned out to work really well! I recommend printing the 'hangthingy' upside down. For the other parts, it's very obvious in which orientation you should print them. You'll also have to decide for yourself whether you use a brim/supports or not. That depends just on your printer. In my case, supports weren't definitely needed, but especially for the drip tray itself, a brim was really handy since I don't have a heated bed on my printer. In a 3D model, everything fits really nice together, but that's probably not the case with your 3D-printed part. I had to heat the holes for the pins up with a creme brulee torch before I could insert the pins. There are a lot of other ways to insert those pins, just do what you think is best to do. Don't forget to use some glue though! Anyways, if you have any questions, please ask me! And if you made this, please share a 'make'! 3-1-2018; Added 'Drip tray cover 2.0'. This design has a hole right underneath the nozzle of the coffee machine, so that when there's no cup under the coffee machine, the coffee would fall directly into the drip tray, unlike with the last design...
