Nespresso dry / air bubbled / airlocked water line repair
thingiverse
Nespresso machines are prone to failing if an air bubble gets in the water line, typically if it has not been used for a while or if it is run with an empty reservoir. This design helps force water through as the fix from Nescafe listed at https://www.contact.nespresso.com/faq/us/en/detail/93 does not always work. Symptom of this is the pump not starting after pressing the coffee button. Items required: * Plunger * Ziploc bag * Straw * Plastic bag Steps: 1. Add enough water to the bottom of the reservoir to make a cup of coffee. Tuck the Ziploc bag in to the reservoir and put the straw about two inches in, all the way to one side. Close the bag as much as possible. 2. Blow air in until the bag is as full as possible then seal it while pulling the straw out. 3. Push down with the plunger while pressing the coffee button. If you are lucky, this will be enough. If the plunger gets stuck 3/4 of the way down, move on to the next step. 4. Pull the plunger out, lay the plastic bag across the reservoir opening, and rest the plunger on top in the reservoir. Press the coffee button and push down again on the plunger. As soon as you hear the pump start stop pushing, otherwise it may overload the pump. Plunger has a vent hole in the middle that can also be used with a hook to pull the plunger out if it gets wedged - the reservoir is not quite a vertical unit so the plunger should only go about halfway.
