Nesiur Sarcophagus Lid & Base (VCU_3D_3194&3614)
sketchfab
The lid and base of this sarcophagus house a mummy named Nesiur, who is currently on display at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton, Ohio. The museum's Go!Scan 50 created a 3D scan of the sarcophagus within their own walls. According to Jill E. Krieg-Accrocco, Curator of Anthropology and Exhibitions at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, Nesiur was unearthed in 1922 by H.E. Winlock of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York from a site known as Deir el-Bahari on the western edge of Thebes. Deir el-Bahari is where mortuary temples and tombs are located along the west bank of the Nile River. Nesiur's coffin and mummification process suggest that she lived during the 25th Dynasty, which dates back to around 700 BC. She was given to the museum in 1926. The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is kindly acknowledged for allowing the use of this information.
