NES "Dogbone" Controller Pivot (3rd Party/Fake)
thingiverse
You can purchase a very cheap replacement controller for your NES that is shaped like the 2nd generation "dogbone" controller for the NES from places like eBay. Unlike official NES dogbone controllers, third-party ones such as this Tomee controller do not have a pivot for the D-Pad to rock on physically, which prevents opposite directions from being pressed at the same time. This results in strange behavior where all 4 directions can be pushed at once, causing weird behavior in NES games. Oddly enough, these third-party controllers actually have a pivot inside the D-Pad but it's not usable because nothing touches it. This is what this "thing" is designed to fix. To do this: 1) Remove all 5 screws from the back of the controller and break the QC Quality Check sticker. 2) Unwrap the wire wrapped around the stand-offs, then carefully remove the board out of the controller. 3) Insert the pivot into the D-Pad. It shouldn't rotate but even if it does, that's okay. Optional: You might want to glue the pivot to the silicone pad so it doesn't rock or move out of place. Optional 2: Place a piece of smooth tape on top of the pivot to prevent the roughness of the 3D print from sanding down the pivot on the D-Pad.
