NES Cartridge Door
thingiverse
The cartridge door on a friend's Nintendo was in need of repair, and I jumped into action to find a replacement solution. We experimented with another design from Thingiverse, the Nintendo NES Flip Top Lid, but unfortunately, it had a poor fit and the pegs were weak and not accurately replicated. Determined to get the job done, I grabbed my calipers and carefully measured what was left of the broken door. Based on those measurements, I created this OpenSCAD model to help resolve the issue. To ensure others can recreate the same results, I'm also including the OpenSCAD source file that generated this design. History of Updates: Version 1.0: Initial version released. Version 2.0: Corrected a problem with door closure. The internal strain relief between the top and front panels had previously run edge-to-edge, making it impossible to close the door fully. Version 3.0: Adjusted the overhangs on the strain reliefs to enable printing from either side. This change allows users to optimize their print orientation based on any quirks in their specific printer, such as warping during the printing process. Elemental Version: This is similar to version 3.0, but with holes cut into a pattern that closely resembles the Elemental Technologies server faceplate design. Download and print the design for best results. For added durability, use several extra shells and a relatively solid infill structure during printing.
