NES Cart Dust Cover
thingiverse
Since recovering and cleaning my NES collection, I'd decided it was time to get the bottoms of my uncovered carts covered. Considering it'd cost me about as much as a full 1kg reel of cheap PLA to get some knockoff covers for my entire collection, I figured I'd print my own. Found a few excellent cart covers that didn't exactly fit my bill - they were fast to print and quite thin, but as a result of that they were also fragile - one out of three of my "test print" run broke as I removed it from the test bed. In the end, I took philnelson's model into Tinkercad to thicken up the remaining walls that hadn't been thickened. You lose some of the "compactness", but I like how sturdy the resulting print is - before committing to one or the other, I'd suggest printing one of each and seeing what you like best. With my version, your NES carts won't be packing as closely with each other, but the cover is less fragile. Good news is that since it's shorter than some of the larger alternatives, it's still a quick print and light on materials. It's snug to the bottom of most carts, but it remains thin enough to stack in a shelf without losing a huge amount of space.
