NES Card Holder

-After seeing a photo of a hinged NES case (and unable to find original maker/.stl) I set out to make my own.

-I opted to forgo the hinge for a simpler/cleaner design.

-I modeled a sleeve much like the ones used for NES game cartridges (My sleeves are scaled to be snug and are held in place by friction. I may come back to this and add a textured sleeve if there is interest).

-Models are thin enough that two-three will fit in a standard Nintendo Switch Game Case (two with sleeves and three without. I'll work on a separate carrying case for these models soon).

-Here's the reddit link which inspired me. https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/feqcim/these_are_the_coolest_cases_ever/

I decided to forego the warning label and screw holes on back of the game cart. If there is interest I'll upload versions which include those.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.1

Infill:

20%

Notes:

I printed the NES holders upside down (top of game cart on the print bed surface). This allowed for cleaner details on the front.

Post-Printing

Standard inkjet printer and printer paper used for the game art. rnrnI spread as consistent a layer of Elmers glue with my finger and applied desired image. Once dried, more glue was spread to coat/protect. Clear fingernail polish would be more ideal.rnrnOne of the sleeves was sanded smooth/scratched to emulate wear.

How I Designed This

Fusion 360

Category: Video Games
