NERVA (Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Applications)

thingiverse

This is a precise replica of the NERVA nuclear thermal rocket engine developed during the 1960s as part of the Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Applications program. It accurately portrays the flight version that would have powered deep-space missions in the 1970s and beyond. Unfortunately, after years of thorough testing and development, the program was terminated in 1973 at the conclusion of the Apollo program. For those unfamiliar with it, I strongly suggest viewing this vintage NASA documentary from the 60s: https://youtu.be/vs3zNwXhzSA
