Nerf Revoltinator Muzzle Brake
thingiverse
The Revoltinator's attachment capabilities match those of the Retaliator. I compared features, modeled a muzzle brake in FreeCad 0.18, and found it fits both models perfectly. Other Nerf blasters might have similar features, but I'm unaware of them. The version with square ports was printed first; its appearance appealed to me, but it required supports touching the build plate and inside the holes. Removing support from the holes was tedious, so a 1/4" hole was drilled through the support, then needle nose pliers were used. A second version with round ports was designed, which likely won't require supports in the holes; however, supports will still be needed below the angled faces of the two side features. The rounded design is more suitable for kids due to its non-pointy shape. A PNG has been included, featuring the dimensions I used for the locking lugs that interface with the barrel features of the blasters. This allows others to design their own attachments. One dimension not depicted in the image is the distance from the center of the detent to the center of the bore, which measures 41.25mm. Prior to printing the full version, two simple test parts were printed to fine-tune the dimensions; they fit both blasters tested well, indicating the dimensions are accurate. The spring used came from a broken Nerf blaster and has the following specifications: an outer diameter of 5.75mm, length of 13.50mm, and wire diameter of 0.80mm. Its stiffness is notable, with a spring rate around 40 lbs/inch. Depending on the sourced spring, adjustments may be necessary to the pocket in the back of the detent and/or the length of the detent retainer.
