Nerf N-Strike Elite Rough Cut 2x4 Replacement Gear
thingiverse
When the cocking mechanism on my Nerf jammed, I disassembled it and discovered a broken gear within. I remade the gear using a 3D printer and reassembled the Nerf with the new part. The Nerf now operates smoothly again. Update: I have pinpointed the reason why the Nerf initially jammed. It happens when you simultaneously hold down the trigger while pulling back the cocking mechanism and releasing it again. However, this issue only occurs if the trigger is pressed for the entire process. If that's the case, the trigger won't be able to release the piston, and the cocking mechanism will become stuck. To fix this problem, simply manually fire the Nerf by pushing down on the lever that releases the piston. This can be done without disassembling the Nerf, as it features two holes on either side of the trigger, just above the logo. Insert a thin screwdriver or similar tool into one of these holes and carefully manipulate the firing lever. Be patient during this process, but it will eventually work. Looking back, I believe that excessive force was applied to the gear when trying to "unjam" the Nerf, which ultimately led to its breakage.
